Adios .. Auf Wiedersehen , Farewell – Valdez exits BVB

After 4+ years , 113 appearances and 16 goals for BVB ,  Paraguayan international footballer Nelson Valdez has finally bid farewell to the club he has known and loved for the past seasons and signed a multi year deal with Hercules Alicante of Spain, the deal in terms of transfer fee to BVB is rumoured to be around 4 million euros.

A striker while not the most prolific was best known for his work ethic and effort amongst fans and for it was given much understanding and support. but given the arrival of long term target of BVB Robert Lewandowski .

Valdez had seen his future and place in the team at risk and with him not being guaranteed first team football , it was decided by all parties that should a fair offer come along it would be accepted and should he agree terms , he would be allowed to leave.

PD wish Nelson all the best for the future

Dortmund suffer 2nd defeat in a row

Borussia Dortmund 2 - 3 Eintracht Frankfurt

Borussia Dortmund played host to Eintracht Frankfurt, who hadn't won at Dortmund since 1991. But the visitors walked away victorious today.

The first half of the match came to be a very evenly matched affair, with both sides having plenty of possession and attempts at goal. It was the away team that managed to open the scoring though. With 7 minutes played Benjamin Kohler leaped to meet a Patrick  Ochs cross, and powered home a header.

Frankfurt nearly added a second minutes later when Altintop got some space at the edge of the box but Marc Ziegler was quick off his line to muffle out any attack.

On the 15th minute Dortmund managed to pull a goal back. Grosskreutz's corner was cleared only as far as Mohamed Zidan who played the ball back into the box where Mats Hummels was quick to react to put the ball in the back of the net.

Both teams had their fair share in chances on goal but Frankfurt were the closest to adding to their tally. Altintop managed to shot past Ziegler in the 27th minute but Mats Hummels was quick to clear the ball off the line, and just a few minutes later Altintop again had another great chance but failed to materialise a free header.

On the 39th minute Barrios was clear on goal but quick reactions by the goalkeeper ensured that the Dortmund hitman didn't score.

So at halftime the teams remained on level terms at 1-1.

The second half both teams took a while to get into the match shot wise, both teams kept plenty of possession though.

Dortmund then took the lead in the 56th minute. Owomoyela done well to retain possession of the ball in the oppositions box, he played the ball out to Zidan who crossed the ball into the box. Barrios was there to slot home from a few yards.

Dortmund went on to create a few good chances but the Frankfurt goalkeeper was on good form. In the 64th minute a Frankfurt corner was cleared out to Jung who fired a shot from 20 yards but it took a deflection on the way and Ziegler had no chance. The score levelled at 2-1.

The match livened up as both teams went all out for the winner. Dortmund came closest when a scramble in front of goal failed to materialise. It was then in the 73rd minute when Frankfurt took the lead. Meier took advantage of some slack defending to shoot past Ziegler.

Dortmund had the best chance after that just 1 minute away from the end of regulation time, Santana managed to head over the bar from 2 yards.

Borussia Dortmund against Eintracht Frankfurt: Preview

Borussia Dortmund look to splash doubts of a lack of good form and are setting their sights on Frankfurt. Dortmund fell last weekend 1-4 against a strong Suttgart side away from home. The Westfalen return home and will have the support of 70,000 or more fans rooting for them for the clash against Frankfurt on Sunday (17.30).

Dortmund will have Mohamad Zidan back in the squad and it appears that Sven Bender is fit. Bender will be a game time decision, but in training today he had no pain from an earlier complication from the knee. Dortmund will be missing star midfielder Kuba who is suffering from back problems. Felipe Santana is still making a recovery from a bone bruise but the prognosis is looking better.

Frankfurt have a strew of their own players missing but much of their starting eleven has not been badly effected. Big Star missing from Frankfurt is the Greek forward Amanatidis. Dortmund can cushion their lead on Frankfurt in a European place with a win. Frankfurt is eight points behind Dortmund and a win would see Dortmund move eleven points clear of Frankfurt. Dortmund currently sit fourth in the table on 36 points and are looking ambitiously to play European football this year.

Dortmund fairest team in the league

Having received no red cards or yellow-red cards and only picking up 31 yellow cards in total, Borussia Dortmund are ranked fairest team in the Bundesliga. But going into the match against Eintracht Frankfurt four players will have to be on their best behaviour.

Lucas Barrios, Nelson Valdez, Nuri Sahin and Marcel Schmelzer have all accumulated 4 yellow cards each. Meaning if they get one more booking they will face a match ban. Which would only add to the teams personnel problems at the moment, with a few key players out injured.

Dortmund earn a point against Schalke in the 133rd Ruhr Derby

From the blow of the first whistle .. just knowing the history of the BVB - Schalke Derby would tell you it was going to be a bruising encounter .. in a game that saw within the first few moments Dortmund's Kevin Prince Boateng earn himself a yellow card for a challenge on Mladen Krstajic which despite the Serb going off for treatment saw him replaced not long after by Halil Altintop.

The home side had the first real chance on goal which saw a Levan Kobiashvili shot bravely stopped by Dortmunds Owomoyela who came off the worse seeing him leave for treatment , another casualty in this clash of 2 Ruhrvalley titans .. luckily he soldiered on and came back to play a part in the game.

Substitue Altintop was seemingly giving the home side a lift in their attack and they continued to push at the Dortmund goal only to be foiled by the defence but the assault on the Dortmund defence paid off with an Altintop created chance which got the better of Felipe Santana and he crossed in to see Kevin Kuranyi converting it into what was a real contender for goal of the season.

He had got the better of Subotic who gave the home striker a little too much room resulting in the Home team taking the lead ..

The rest of the first half pretty much saw Dortmund having to be resiliant in defence with not many attacking chances being created on the home goal one casualty of the first half was Kevin Prince Boateng who came so close to being sent off as the frustration got the better of him, he was replaced in favour of bringing on Mohamed Zidan.

Finally Dortmund managed a chance on goal close to the 50th min of the game a Nuri Sahin cross fired just over the bar by Tamas Hajnal who knew he had mised a good opportunity to level the game.

Back again came the home side on the offensive with another Subotic error this time the young defender misjudged a bounce of the ball which let Kuranyi in on goal, he failed to take the gift of a chance and a poor first touch saw the ball go wide of the goal.

Despite the intoduction of Valdez who replaced Frei in the 58th min , Dortmund still continued to struggle to put together an offensive move and have an attack on goal.

The home side again had another chance which saw Subotic this time foil Farfan blocking his shot, Zidan later had a chance stopped by Jermaine Jones who back tracked from midfield and stopped the Egyptian before he could strike .

Out of no where came a Dortmund attack on goal which with 81 mins gone saw Zidan break free into the home box with a pass meant for Tamas Hajnal finding Valdez who laid it back to Zidan who fired home the equalizer to break the hearts of the home players and fans and give Dortmund fans something to cheer about.

Zidan continued to prove to be a livewire in the dying mins of the game only for a solid save from home keeper Manuel Neuer denying him a 2nd late goal and 3 points for Dortmund, instead Dortmund were able come away with one point to again deny Schalke a win in the Ruhr Derby.
